Avs Fall To Kings 4-3
Jeff Cowan, Tom Kostopoulos, Sean Avery scored for Los Angeles (4-2-1).
Brad May, Joe Sakic and Pierre Turgeon had goals for Colorado (3-0-2), with Turgeon getting the tying score 8:48 into the second period.
Avalanche goalie Vitaly Kolesnik stopped 32 shots, while Mathieu Garon had 31 saves for the Kings.
Los Angeles had a man-advantage in overtime when Ossi Vaananen was called for a holding penalty at 2:57. The Kings failed to score and finished 0-for-9 on the power play. Colorado was 2-for-11.
May gave the Avalanche a 1-0 lead 2:11 into the game, before Cowan tied it about 2 minutes later. Sakic regained the lead for Colorado 25 seconds into the second period.
Kostopoulos and Avery then scored 1:01 apart to give the Kings a 3-2 lead 2:40 into the period.
Colorado finishes its preseason Saturday at Dallas, while the Kings close Friday at Anaheim.
