Skrastins Under Contract; Avalanche Acquires A Seventh-Round Draft Choice In 2006
"Karlis has made a solid contribution to our organization since his arrival," said Avalanche President and General Manager Pierre Lacroix. "He brings a steady presence and consistent play to our defensive corps."
Skrastins, 31, is entering his seventh NHL season and his second as a member of the Avalanche. In his first campaign with Colorado during the 2003-04 season, the Avs' defenseman played in all 82 games for the fourth consecutive season, extending his games-played streak to 351, the longest current streak among active NHL players.
In addition, the Avalanche announced the acquisition of a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2006 Entry Draft from the Calgary Flames in return for goaltender Phil Sauve.
