Stastny Probable Against Thrashers
Third-Year Pro Could Make Return in Atlanta

Following the Avalanche’s practice today at the Duluth Ice Forum in Duluth, Ga., Avalanche head coach Tony Granato listed third-year center Paul Stastny as probable for Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Thrashers.
A definitive decision on his playing status will be made following tomorrow’s morning skate.
Stastny suffered a broken forearm on Dec. 23 in a contest against the Phoenix Coyotes and underwent surgery on Dec. 30. Following the procedure, a six-to-eight week timetable was set for his return. Tomorrow’s game will mark the eight-week mark since the surgery.
Stastny, who has missed 26 games due to the injury, still ranks fourth on Colorado’s scoring chart with 31 points (10g/21a) in 34 games. He has faced the Thrashers twice in his NHL career, posting a goal and two assists.
Budaj Back In
Peter Budaj will get the start in goal when the Avs and Thrashers tangle tomorrow at Philips Arena. The Banska Bystrica, Slovakia native has faced the Thrashers once in his career, taking the loss in a 6-3 Atlanta victory on Feb. 8, 2007 at Pepsi Center.
Slight Change
The NHL has made a slight scoring modification to the Avalanche’s fourth goal in Washington on Friday night. The Wojtek Wolski tally, which originally had assists credited to Ryan Smyth and Brett Clark, is now being listed as Wolski from Smyth and Milan Hejduk.
