Avs Begin Home-and-Home Series against Stars

Monday, 09.23.2013 / 9:01 PM

With three preseason games now completed, the focus for the Avalanche turns to the fine-details and getting fully ready for the start of the regular season in nearly a week.

The Avs' focus is now on the Dallas Stars, a new central division foe for Colorado. The Avalanche will begin a home-and-home series against the Stars on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Denver, before the clubs play in Dallas on Thursday night.

After dropping the first game of the preseason, the Avs have won its last two contests, defeating Los Angeles in overtime on Friday night and pulling out a 2-1 victory on Sunday at the Anaheim Ducks.

In Sunday's game, Guillaume Desbiens and Brad Malone scored for Colorado while goaltender Semyon Varlamov made 37 saves in the victory.

On Monday, the Avalanche reassigned seven players to its AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, bringing their preseason roster to 30. Colorado added a player off waivers prior to its game in Anaheim, claiming Marc-Andre Cliche from the Kings. Cliche could see his first action in an Avalanche uniform on Tuesday versus Dallas.

The Stars have a new-look to them this season as they made several organizational changes in the offseason. The most visual change is their new green-focused logo and jerseys, while acquiring versatile forward Tyler Seguin highlighted the team's roster moves. The club also made changes to its front office as Jim Nill was named the new general manger of the franchise.

The Avalanche and the Stars will play five games against one another when the season starts, with two contests being in Denver and three in Dallas.

Dallas is 2-0-2 in the postseason and is coming off an overtime loss to St. Louis on Saturday.
