2014-15: Led all Vancouver Giants defensemen in points (38), goals (13) and assists (25) while appearing in 69 games…Ranked first on the Giants in plus/minus rating (+3) and penalty minutes (107)…Was an alternate captain for the second consecutive year and served as the team captain late in the season after Dalton Sward suffered a season-ending injury on Feb. 21…Named Vancouver’s team MVP, as well as Defenseman of the Year and earned the Humanitarian of the Year award and Plus/Minus Award…Signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Avalanche on March 24 and joined the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL)…Made his professional hockey debut with Lake Erie on March 31 vs. Milwaukee and went on to appear in nine games for the Monsters (0g/0a).

2012-13: Was acquired by Vancouver from Edmonton on Oct. 31 and went on to record 10 points (2g/8a) and 98 penalty minutes in 58 games with the Giants…Geertsen, who had four points (0g/4a) and 32 PIM in 15 games with Edmonton prior to the trade, combined for 14 points (2g/12a) and 130 penalty minutes in 73 contests between the two WHL teams.
