For the second consecutive game, the Colorado Avalanche will be without two of its top forwards.

Avalanche center Paul Stastny (ankle) and left wing Alex Tanguay (knee) will not play tonight as Colorado begins a four-game East Coast trip in New Jersey. Both players are listed as day to day.

Stastny, injured in the third period of Thursday's 5-4 win over Minnesota, has 39 points (16 goals and 23 assists) in 49 games this season and had three goals in his previous four games before missing Saturday's contest. Tanguay tweaked his knee against the Wild, his third game back after missing 36 contests with knee/hip injuries. Tanguay has two points since his return Jan. 24 at Florida and has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 16 games this year.

Colorado went with a lineup of 11 forwards and seven defensemen in Saturday's 7-1 win over Buffalo and is expected to use the same format this evening against the Devils.

Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere will get the start for the Avalanche. He is 7-4-0 with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage this season. Giguere is tied with Ken Dryden for 44th place on the NHL's all-time wins list with 258.

Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. MT, and the contest will be televised nationally on NBCSN.

Colorado continues it road trip, which consists of four games in six days, tomorrow against the New York Rangers before heading to Philadelphia for a Thursday matchup. The Avalanche's final game before the Olympic Break is Saturday at the New York Islanders.
